Dinopólis

Over 150 million years ago, the Sierra de Albarracín was covered by the Tethys Sea, precursor of the current Mediterranean Sea. At this centre belonging to Dinópolis Territory, you will learn how a fossil is formed, which is the tool used by palaeontologists to find out and study how life was millions of years ago. You will also be able to observe a rich and wide-ranged sample of fossils of the beings that lived in this enormous sea; crocodiles, sponges, brachiopods, bivalves, gastropods, echinoderms or ammonites, such as the Albarracinites albarracinensis, a new specie found in the surroundings of Albarracín. And even more surprising, you will be able to see a specimen of the largest predator known, the Liopleurodon, a gigantic aquatic reptile whose teeth almost double the size of the teeth of a Tyrannosaurus rex.
